Production process engineer – Zaandam
Introductie
Who will be the bright and experienced Process Engineer responsible for developing engineering concepts and system designs to implement process improvements and increase plant efficiency?
Environment: A brand-new plant where edible fats and oils are stored and packed in a clean, conditioned area.
Functie
In Zaandam, the new plant has been operational for a year, and production is scaling up. There is still significant potential for plant expansion. In Zaandam, products are stored, conditioned, and packed according to client specifications. The installations include storage tanks, piping, pumps, instrumentation, an automated filling line, a palletizing robot, and a semi-automated warehouse. All installations and equipment must be maintained in top condition at all times. Your responsibility is to continuously increase production efficiency.
You will work alongside enthusiastic colleagues in a day shift; the team consists of around 17 people.
Tasks:
- Develop and evaluate process engineering concepts, including P&IDs, PFDs, and system designs with cost estimates and schedules.
- Propose and guide process improvements, drafting SOPs under the supervision of the production manager.
- Manage and modify technical zones, such as utilities and refineries.
- Advise plant management on the reliability, availability, and cost of production facilities.
- Conduct daily plant performance checks, troubleshoot issues, and report to the Production Manager.
- Implement best practices to prevent future issues.
- Lead small technical projects (up to €100k) and assist in larger projects, ensuring a smooth handover to production.
- Monitor resources to increase process efficiency while complying with standards.
- Assist Process Operators, Production and Process Leaders, and the Project Engineer with process or project issues.
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental regulations to prevent incidents.

Your profile:
- A self-sufficient and skilled Process Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemical Technology, or Process Technology.
- A collaborative colleague with a service-oriented mindset and a strong focus on process and workplace safety.
- Detail-oriented and solution-driven in your approach to work.
- Technically proficient, with experience in food, pharma, or batch production environments (HACCP, GMP+).
- Proficient in SAP and MS Office.
- Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
- Open-minded, eager to learn, and able to work well within a team.
