What about my VAR in 2016?
What about my VAR in 2016?
Do you work as a freelancer or Zzp’er for clients? Then you know what a VAR statement is. And also that some things are going to change in 2016. But what? That is still unclear. We don’t like that, which is why we are happy to help answer your questions.
Things are going to change as of April 1, 2016. But what ….
The tax authorities want to replace the VAR with a model agreement between the client and the contractor (Zzp’er or freelancer). This bill was approved by the House of Representatives. Since the summer, the Senate has now been considering the proposal. Only if they approve the proposal will VAR disappear for good. But the proposal has not yet been approved. That makes the story for 2016 still so unclear.
Do I now need a new VAR for 2016?
No. Those who currently have a 2014 or 2015 VAR do not need to apply for a new VAR for 2016.
I am starting entrepreneurship this year, what should I do?
Then follow the current path of applying for a VAR statement. The IRS has a handy tool for that. So you’ll know quickly, if you need to apply for a new VAR statement.
Where can I find more information on this topic?
We will keep you informed of developments. But you can always keep an eye on the IRS site. Or ask them questions directly via twitter at @BDzakelijk.
And now?
It remains to be seen. Also for us. However, we will keep a close eye on the news and bring you up to date on new developments.
