Project Manager Yacht Equipment – Leiden
Introduction
Lead the engineering scope for custom-designed yacht equipment, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams from concept development through delivery for some of the world’s most complex superyachts.
Function
What you will do
- Take ownership of the engineering scope for yacht equipment packages, ensuring delivery within agreed planning, budget and technical requirements.
- Assess client specifications, technical requirements and project constraints to determine feasibility and engineering approach for custom-built equipment solutions.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, engineering schedules and resource plans for multiple concurrent yacht projects.
- Provide operational leadership to internal and external engineers, monitoring progress, priorities and deliverable quality throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Coordinate engineering activities with lead engineers, project engineers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between design, manufacturing and installation requirements.
- Ensure that all engineering deliverables comply with customer specifications, applicable standards and project quality requirements.
Organization
Akerboom, part of the De Vries Group, is responsible for the design and production of highly specialised yacht equipment including gangways, platforms, cranes, doors, hatches and boarding systems for Feadship superyachts. The engineering environment combines custom mechanical design, demanding client requirements and complex integration within yachts ranging from 75 to 120 metres. As Project Engineer, you operate at the centre of this process, coordinating engineering activities across multiple stakeholders, disciplines and shipyard locations.
Requirements
What we expect from you
- Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a comparable project engineering role. - Experience within yacht building, maritime engineering, shipbuilding or machine building environments.
- Experience working with 3D CAD systems; Solid Edge experience is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of engineering project planning, budgeting and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Professional communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- Able to balance technical, commercial and planning considerations within complex engineering projects.
Offer
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Gross monthly salary between €4,200 and €5,800 depending on experience and background.
- 40 annual leave days in accordance with the Metalektro collective labour agreement.
- Structured onboarding programme and support from experienced engineering colleagues.
