65-year-old foundation begins 2nd youth
BEVERWIJK – After 65 years, with Tata Steel as its director, SAB 1950 reached an agreement with the steel producer on Sept. 30 on the independent continuation of the foundation. The installation of the new board marks a new milestone in the rich history of the labor intermediary. After divesting its mediation activities for production workers to Randstad Uitzendbureau in early 2015, SAB is now working independently on its future as the job placement specialist for engineers in the regional industry.
SAB 1950 is a household name in the IJmond region. Since its establishment in 1950 by the then Hoogovens, now Tata Steel, thousands of employees have already found work through SAB at the steel producer in IJmuiden. Over the past 65 years, there has been a close relationship from board oversight of the foundation’s operations. With SAB’s independence, a new period is now dawning for the organization.
With a distinctive working method best characterized by openness, transparency, honesty and personal attention, SAB has developed from a port pool to a secondment of engineers for the regional industry over the past decades. Not just for Tata Steel, meanwhile more than 25% of its secondees, employees and freelancers work on a project basis at other large organizations in the regional industry.
In the future, SAB will remain the preferred supplier to Tata Steel for engineers and senior management positions. With the independence and specialized knowledge of the market, SAB will continue to focus on the job placement of engineers in the regional industry in the future.
